Generated in power station
There are many ways of producing electricity, one type is taken from years ago. Energy is produced on a mass scale in a power station. It is taken from fossil fuels and turned into electricity via some scientific processes.

Let me put it in a simple way...
The sun makes the plants grow (light energy), they all die (chemical energy) and are crushed by the earth (chemical energy). The dead plants and animals are dug up years and years later (chemical energy), as fossil fuels, this can be in the form of, coal, oil or natural gas. The fossil fuels which are found are burnt (chemical energy) so heat is given off (heat energy), the heat is made to boil water. The steam from the boiling water turns the turbine (kinetic energy) then the turbine turns the generator which generates electricity (electrical energy).
