SET 9.2's DISCUSSION ON THE 7 RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES.
What did we have to do?Everyone researched all 7 types of renewable energy and then the whole of the set contributed to a discussion. The set was divided into 4 groups and each group was given 15 minutes to talk about a certain topic to do with the renewable energy resources. We were left on our own to just share all the information that each person had researched.
What was expected?Everyone was expected to contribute in both asking and answering questions to the rest of the set. This was good because it made for certain that everyone was putting in the effort. You needed to ask questions that were open so that the set could use it to lead onto another topic to do with energy.
In the groups you had to a least one question to the set, but in order to do this you needed to have done your research. |
Why a discussion?A discussion is a great way to share what you have learnt in a different way that you would usually find in a classroom. You are able to tell everyone the little facts that you found out that no one else did. That makes it interesting and easy to achieve great things during this discussion.
My thoughts...I think the most interesting question asked was "Did anyone find any interesting facts about any of the 3 forms of water energy". It opened up a variety of answers that were fascinating to listen to and find out that I hadn't come across in my research.
I think that this is a great way to learn because it allows to to share the information that you did in your research as well as not being limited to your own information you can get it from everyone else. Next time I would do a bit more research on things that aren't usually known in that topic because it makes the discussion much more interesting. |
The groups?Group A - Lead a discussion on the use of sun and wind as forms of renewable energy.
Group B - Lead a discussion on the use of water as part of 3 forms of renewable energy. Group C - Lead a discussion on the use of geothermal and biomass as forms of renewable energy. Group D - Lead a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy. |
